Πλατεία Αριστοτέλους

είμαι η πλατεία Αριστοτέλους μια από τις σημαντικότερες πλατείες της Θεσσαλονίκης. Μετά τη μεγάλη πυρκαγιά του 1917, η ανοικοδόμησή μου ανατέθηκε στον Γάλλο αρχιτέκτονα Ερνέστ Εμπράρ. Ο Εμπράρ είχε ένα λαμπρό όραμα για εμένα, να αποτελέσω έναν μνημειακό άξονα που θα ξεκινούσε από τη θάλασσα και θα έφτανε μέχρι και τη Ρωμαϊκή Αγορά. Για την ανοικοδόμησή μου ο Εμπράρ εμπνεύστηκε από τη δυτική αρχιτεκτονική, τα ευρωπαϊκά, αραβικά και νεο βυζαντινά πρότυπα ώστε να τονίζεται η σχέση της πόλης με το Βυζάντιο. Επιπλέον στο κέντρο μου θα τοποθετούνταν ένα άγαλμα του Μεγάλου Αλεξάνδρου. Ωστόσο τα πρώτα του σχέδια για μενα τροποποιήθηκαν σημαντικά. Οι τελικές μου προσόψεις χτίστηκαν με απλούστερο τρόπο λόγω των οικονομικών προβλημάτων της εποχής. Σήμερα φιλοξενώ μαγαζιά όλων των ειδών. Στο κέντρο μου δεσπόζει το άγαλμα του αρχαίου φιλοσόφου Αριστοτέλη ενώ στο βόρειο τμήμα μου το άγαλμα του Ελευθέριου Βενιζέλου.
Aristotelous Square

I am Aristotelous Square, one of the most important squares in Thessaloniki. After the great fire of 1917, my reconstruction was entrusted to the French architect Ernest Hébrard. Hébrard had a grand vision for me, to be a monumental axis starting from the sea and reaching the Roman Agora. For my reconstruction, Hébrard was inspired by Western architecture, as well as European, Arab, and Neo-Byzantine models to highlight the city’s connection to Byzantium. Additionally, a statue of Alexander the Great was to be placed in my center. However, the initial designs for me were significantly modified. My final facades were built in a simpler manner due to the economic problems of the time. Today, I host shops of all kinds. The statue of the ancient philosopher Aristotle stands in the cente, while in my northern section there is the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos.

Hallo, ich bin der Aristotelesplatz, einer der wichtigsten Plätze in Thessaloniki. Nach dem großen Brand von 1917 wurde mein Wiederaufbau dem französischen Architekten Ernest Hébrard anvertraut. Hébrard hatte eine großartige Vision für mich: einen monumentalen Achse zu schaffen, die vom Meer bis zum Römischen Markt reicht. Für meinen Wiederaufbau ließ sich Hébrard von der westlichen Architektur sowie von europäischen, arabischen und neo-byzantinischen Modellen inspirieren, um die Verbindung der Stadt zu Byzanz zu betonen. Außerdem sollte in meiner Mitte eine Statue von Alexander dem Großen aufgestellt werden. Allerdings wurden seine ersten Pläne für mich erheblich geändert. Meine finalen Fassaden wurden aufgrund der wirtschaftlichen Probleme der Zeit einfacher gestaltet. Heute beherberge ich Geschäfte aller Art. In meinem Zentrum steht die Statue des antiken Philosophen Aristoteles, während sich im nördlichen Teil meine Statue von Eleftherios Venizelos befindet.

Bonjour, je suis la place Aristote, l'une des places les plus importantes de Thessalonique. Après le grand incendie de 1917, ma reconstruction a été confiée à l'architecte français Ernest Hébrard. Hébrard avait une vision grandiose pour moi : devenir un axe monumental qui partirait de la mer et atteindrait l'Agora romaine. Pour ma reconstruction, Hébrard s'est inspiré de l'architecture occidentale, ainsi que des modèles européens, arabes et néo-byzantins afin de souligner le lien de la ville avec Byzance. De plus, une statue d'Alexandre le Grand devait être érigée au centre de ma place. Cependant, ses premiers plans pour moi ont été considérablement modifiés. Mes façades finales ont été construites de manière plus simple en raison des problèmes économiques de l'époque. Aujourd'hui, j'accueille des magasins de toutes sortes. Au centre, se dresse la statue du philosophe ancien Aristote, tandis que dans ma section nord se trouve la statue d'Elefthérios Venizélos.
