Λευκός Πύργος
Είμαι ο Λευκός Πύργος, το εμβληματικό σύμβολο της Θεσσαλονίκης. Χτίστηκα τον 15ο αιώνα από τους Οθωμανούς, για να προστατεύω την πόλη και να ελέγχω το λιμάνι της. Στην αρχή, το καθήκον μου ήταν αμυντικό, όμως γρήγορα έγινα κάτι περισσότερο από ένα απλό φρούριο. Κατά τη διάρκεια των αιώνων, υπήρξα τόπος φυλάκισης και βασανιστηρίων, και αυτός ο σκοτεινός ρόλος μου χάρισε το όνομα "Πύργος του Αίματος." Το 1891, οι Οθωμανοί με ασβέστωσαν, και έτσι απέκτησα το όνομα που φέρω σήμερα, "Λευκός Πύργος," σηματοδοτώντας μια νέα εποχή. Τώρα φιλοξενώ εκθέσεις που αφηγούνται την πλούσια ιστορία της πόλης μου και δίνω την ευκαιρία στους επισκέπτες να θαυμάσουν την υπέροχη θέα από την κορυφή μου, καθώς η Θεσσαλονίκη απλώνεται μπροστά τους. White Tower
I am the White Tower, the iconic symbol of Thessaloniki. I was built in the 15th century by the Ottomans to protect the city and control its port. Initially, my role was defensive, but I soon became more than just a fortress. Over the centuries, I served as a prison and a place of torture, which earned me the grim name "Tower of Blood."
In 1891, the Ottomans whitewashed me, and that’s how I got the name I bear today, "White Tower," marking a new era. Now, I host exhibitions that narrate the rich history of my city and offer visitors the chance to admire the stunning view from my top, as Thessaloniki unfolds before them. Over time, I became a part of this city’s soul, bridging the past and the present.
Weiße Turm
Ich bin der Weiße Turm, das ikonische Symbol von Thessaloniki. Ich wurde im 15. Jahrhundert von den Osmanen erbaut, um die Stadt zu schützen und ihren Hafen zu kontrollieren. Anfangs war meine Rolle defensiv, doch schon bald wurde ich mehr als nur eine Festung. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte diente ich als Gefängnis und Ort der Folter, was mir den düsteren Namen "Turm des Blutes" einbrachte.
Im Jahr 1891 wurde ich von den Osmanen weiß gestrichen, und so erhielt ich den Namen, den ich heute trage: "Weißer Turm", was eine neue Ära markierte. Heute beherberge ich Ausstellungen, die die reiche Geschichte meiner Stadt erzählen, und ich biete Besuchern die Gelegenheit, den atemberaubenden Blick von meiner Spitze zu genießen, während sich Thessaloniki vor ihnen ausbreitet. Tour Blanche
Je suis la Tour Blanche, le symbole emblématique de Thessalonique. J'ai été construite au 15e siècle par les Ottomans pour protéger la ville et contrôler son port. Au début, mon rôle était défensif, mais je suis vite devenue plus qu'une simple forteresse. Au fil des siècles, j'ai servi de prison et de lieu de torture, ce qui m'a valu le sombre surnom de "Tour de Sang".
En 1891, les Ottomans m'ont blanchie, et c'est ainsi que j'ai reçu le nom que je porte aujourd'hui, "Tour Blanche", marquant une nouvelle époque. Aujourd'hui, j'abrite des expositions qui racontent la riche histoire de ma ville et j'offre aux visiteurs la possibilité d'admirer la vue imprenable depuis mon sommet, tandis que Thessalonique se déploie devant eux. Au fil du temps, je suis devenue une partie de l'âme de cette ville, reliant le passé au présent.
