Ανατολικά Τείχη

Είμαι τα ανατολικά τείχη της Θεσσαλονίκης, κατασκευασμένα από πέτρα και τούβλα, υψώνοντας μέχρι και 10 μέτρα. Με τις αμέτρητες πύλες και πύργους, όπως την Πύλη της Άννας Παλαιολογίνας, έχω προστατεύσει την πόλη από επιδρομές και έχω σταθεί φύλακας της ιστορίας της. Μέσα στους αιώνες, πέρασα από βυζαντινά σε οθωμανικά χέρια, και παρότι ένα τμήμα μου γκρεμίστηκε το 1869, παραμένω εδώ για να θυμίζω τη δύναμη και την αίγλη του παρελθόντος.
Η ιστορία μου ξεκινά τον 4ο αιώνα όταν ο Μέγας Θεοδόσιος έδωσε εντολή να με χτίσουν για να προστατέψω την πόλη από επιδρομές. Η μορφή μου διαμορφώθηκε και ενισχύθηκε από την αυτοκράτειρα Άννα Παλαιολογίνα, που ανακαίνισε και ενίσχυσε τις πύλες και τους πύργους μου, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της Πύλης της Κασσανδρεωτικής και στην συνέχεια χτίστηκαν ο λευκός πύργος και ο πύργος τριγωνίου. Αιώνες μετά, οι Οθωμανοί με κατεδάφισαν εν μέρει για να ανοίξουν το πέρασμα προς τη θάλασσα.
Σήμερα, έχω ενταχθεί στη λίστα των μνημείων της UNESCO, και έτσι εκτιμώ τη διαρκή φροντίδα και προσοχή σας, ως σημαντικό στοιχείο της πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς της Θεσσαλονίκης. Παρόλο που ο χρόνος με έχει φθείρει, μερικά από τα τμήματά μου, οι πύργοι και οι πύλες μου στέκονται ακόμη όρθιοι, προσκαλώντας επισκέπτες να εξερευνήσουν τα μονοπάτια και τη θέα μου προς τον Θερμαϊκό. Οι προσπάθειες συντήρησης διασφαλίζουν ότι θα συνεχίσω να αφηγούμαι την ιστορία της πόλης για πολλές ακόμη γενιές.
The Eastern Walls

I am the Eastern Walls of Thessaloniki, built from stone and brick, rising as high as ten meters. With the countless towers and gates, like the gate of Anna Palaiologina, I have protected this town and have stood as its guard of its history. Throughout the centuries, I have been passed from Byzantine to Ottoman hands, and even though a part of me was destroyed in 1869, I remain here to remind you of the strength and glamour of the past.
My history starts in the 4th century when Theodosius gave the order for my construction so as to protect the town from raids. My form got reinforced by the empress Anna Palaeologina, who renovated and strengthened my towers and gates, including the gate
of Kassandreotiki. Later on, the White Tower and the Trigoniou Tower were constructed while centuries later, the Ottomans partly demolished me to open the sea route.
Today, I have been registered in UNESCO’s list of monuments, and thus I appreciate your constant care and attention, as an important part of the cultural heritage of Thessaloniki. Even though time has worn me out, some of my parts, the towers and gates still stand tall, inviting visitors to explore the paths and my view to the Thermaic Gulf. The ongoing efforts for my conservation ensure that I will continue to tell this town’s history for many generations to come.

Ich bin die östlichen Mauern von Thessaloniki, aus Stein und Ziegel gebaut, und erhebe mich bis zu zehn Meter hoch. Mit unzähligen Türmen und Toren, wie dem Tor der Anna Palaiologina, habe ich diese Stadt beschützt und als Hüterin ihrer Geschichte gedient. Über die Jahrhunderte bin ich von byzantinischen in osmanische Hände übergegangen, und obwohl ein Teil von mir 1869 zerstört wurde, stehe ich noch immer hier, um an die Stärke und den Glanz der Vergangenheit zu erinnern.
Meine Geschichte beginnt im 4. Jahrhundert, als Theodosius den Befehl gab, mich zu bauen, um die Stadt vor Überfällen zu schützen. Meine Form blieb und wurde durch die Kaiserin Anna Palaiologina verstärkt, die meine Türme und Tore renovierte und verstärkte, einschließlich des Tors Kassandreotiki; später wurden der Weiße Turm und der Trigoniou-Turm errichtet. Jahrhunderte später haben die Osmanen mich teilweise abgerissen, um die Seeroute zu öffnen.
Heute bin ich in die UNESCO-Liste der Denkmäler eingetragen und schätze daher eure ständige Pflege und Aufmerksamkeit als wichtigen Teil des kulturellen Erbes Thessalonikis. Auch wenn die Zeit an mir gezehrt hat, stehen einige meiner Teile, die Türme und Tore, noch immer stolz da und laden Besucher ein, meine Wege und meinen Blick auf den Thermaischen Golf zu erkunden. Die Bemühungen um meine Erhaltung sichern, dass ich die Geschichte dieser Stadt für viele kommende Generationen weiter erzählen werde.
Les murs est
Je suis les murs est de Thessalonique, construits en pierre et en brique, s'élevant jusqu'à 10 mètres. Avec mes innombrables portes et tours, comme la Porte d'Anna Palaiologina, j'ai protégé la ville des invasions et je suis resté le gardien de son histoire. À travers les siècles, je suis passé des mains byzantines à celles ottomanes, et bien qu'une partie de moi ait été démolie en 1869, je reste ici pour rappeler la puissance et la splendeur du passé.
Mon histoire commence au 4e siècle, lorsque l'empereur Théodose le Grand ordonna ma construction pour protéger la ville des invasions. Ma forme a été façonnée et renforcée par l'impératrice Anna Palaiologina, qui a rénové et consolidé mes portes et mes tours, y compris la Porte de Kassandreia, et par la suite ont été construits la tour blanche et la tour triangulaire. Des siècles plus tard, les Ottomans m'ont partiellement démoli pour ouvrir le passage vers la mer.
Aujourd'hui, je suis inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, et j'apprécie ainsi les soins et l'attention continus, en tant qu'élément important du patrimoine culturel de Thessalonique. Bien que le temps m'ait usé, certaines de mes sections, mes tours et mes portes se tiennent encore debout, invitant les visiteurs à explorer mes chemins et ma vue sur le golfe Thermaïque. Les efforts de conservation garantissent que je continuerai à raconter l'histoire de la ville pour de nombreuses générations à venir.
